Two questions I want to ask the group:
- The Count of Monte Cristo is long. Really long. Some of you have contacted me stating that Oct 19 won't work for you, and I don't think any of the rest of you will have finished the book by that date either. I want to give everyone time to finish the book, but I don't want to postpone the meeting if no one plans on actually finishing it. Please let me know if you would like to a) have the meeting as scheduled, b) move the meeting to the Monday before Thanksgiving, or c) postpone indefinitely and decide date when we meet to discuss the scary stories.
- Does the evening of November 2nd work for you guys to discuss the scary stories for an hour or so?
Please leave your answers in the comments section. I appreciate your input =)
November 2 is great for me for the scary stories! Also, yes, I would love to finish the count. I am 350 or so pages deep at this point, so I'm going to finish it one day either way, but I am totally okay with postponing the meeting if the majority wants to have more time to finish it.

ReplyDeleteHey gang. I had two weeks in between jobs so I had plenty of time on my hands. I am on page 821 of the Count and should have it finished by 10/19. I'm up for meeting then, but will be fine if we postpone as well.
ReplyDeleteI actually have a class on Tuesday evenings through the end of November, so I can't make the 19th or the 2nd. I'm on page 774 of the Count, though, and totally plan to finish it eventually, if we postpone to talk about it later.
ReplyDeleteI was going to make my official entry into the book club with the Poe but I'm not sure about November 2nd. However since I'm a newbie don't change it if it works for everyone else!

ReplyDeleteBtw, meant to say, my Tuesday class is over the week of Thanksgiving, so if Tuesdays work best for everyone else, I'll be back in the game in December!
ReplyDeleteHow about this:
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who want to discuss the Count, how about we do Monday the 25th? That way it gives a little extra time for those who need it and it's also not on a night that any of us have class.
And then, let's meet Monday, Nov. 1st (the day after Halloween!) to discuss the short stories.
Let me know what you guys think!
I probably won't be able to do the 1st, but I'll try!
ReplyDeleteHey guys!
ReplyDeleteI'm barely through the first part of the Count (but I now have it on my new Kindle!) but I'd love to meet to discuss anyways - I'll read my butt off between now and then!
I actually can't do Monday nights, I have rehearsal for Washington Chorus those nights. :( So Monday the 25th and the 1st don't work for me.
Wednesdays are good though, if Tuesday doesn't work?
And FTR I'm pretty sure I can do both the 19th (although I won't be finished) or the 2nd.
To be thoroughly difficult, I also have a commitment on Wednesday nights. It's fine with me if I miss the next two meetings as once class is over I plan to be lazy and utterly available.

Goodness this is complicated! :) I will be out of town on the 1st! Other than, my evenings are pretty open.
